Hawaiian Joe, Inc. Launches
Facebook Russian Virus Update!

Hawaiian Joe

Hawaiian Joe lists below a possible solution to the Russian Virus on Facebook.

Aloha Friend,

This was by far the most difficult program I've tried to isolate in a long time.

To All on Facebook: Do Not open any silly looking video link that has been sent to you by me or any of your Friend(s) stating that you've been caught on video.

These are hackers from Russia that are taping into everyone's Facebook accounts and sending out email information under your Friends account to everyone of their listed Friends trying to get you to open the link.

If you open the link, Virus' will take control of your system and then pretend to be able to solve your problem for you by providing a "Systems Tool" for you to input your credit card info to buy to destroy all the Trojans, Worms, Backdoors, etc.

Once these programs take control of your computer it will be extremely hard to operate any program that you try to open - because the virus continuously interrupts your activities telling you your systems is infected and you need to buy this "System Tool" program to kill the virus'.

Don't fall for this bull - it's a trap to grab your credit card information.

These file's can be found under your "c:\ProgramData\" Directory proceeded by numeric file folders.

If you know how to use "DOS" at the command prompt "C:\" you may be able to kill the virus by that route. To get to your root directory just type: cd.. until you are at the root (c:\) directory. Then type: cd \ProgramData.

Find the numeric files and use the "del" command to delete the files once you access the numeric folders.

If you do not know how to use "DOS", you may want to try to download a file protocol manager (ftp) program like "FileZilla" then go back to your "C:" Prompt, find the "ProgramData" Folder", then look for approximately 3 to 4 folders starting with "Numeric" numbers.

For example you will be able to remove all files inside of these folders except for one file "59460529.exe" inside of folder "59460529". Just change the name of this file to something else and your system should work again once all of these files are deleted. After a few hours you may be able to delete the "59460529" folder.

There is also a file inside the "Windows" directory with all of your Facebook account Friends data that needs to be deleted. I cannot remember the name of the file but it will have the current date associated with it that the virus was loaded to your system. Just delete that file also if you can find it and open it to look at the contents that have your Facebook Friend's data associated within it.

I opened the link myself thinking I was receiving a message from my daugher-in-law "Susan" and nearly lost my entire system for hours until I could isolate the virus and I'm still not sure I got it all.

But, at least I've regained control of my system at this point by deleting some of the files with DOS and Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro program.

The best solution is not to open any silly looking line of text coming by email from one of your Facebook Friends that may say you've been caught on video.

Good Luck,

Joe
